Role Summary / Purpose:

As an SDE-1, you will design and develop robust, high-performance distributed systems operating at global scale. Starting from broadly defined business requirements, you will translate ideas into high-quality, scalable code, collaborate with cross-disciplinary teams, and build solutions in an agile development environment.

Key Responsibilities:

Collaborate with experienced cross-disciplinary Amazonians to conceive, design, and bring innovative products and services to market.

Design and build innovative technologies in large distributed computing environments, driving fundamental technological advancements.

Create low-latency, scalable solutions to run predictions and processing across distributed systems at high speed and scale.

Build distributed storage, indexing, and query systems that are scalable, fault-tolerant, cost-efficient, and easy to maintain.

Design, architect, and code clean solutions starting from broadly defined technical and product problems.

Work within an agile engineering environment to continuously test, deploy, and maintain high-quality software.

Eligibility Criteria & Qualifications:

Education: Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or related quantitative technical field.

Experience: 1+ years of non-internship professional software development experience.

Basic Qualifications:

1+ years of non-internship professional software development experience.

Hands-on programming experience with at least one modern programming language (such as Java, C++, Python, or C#).

Solid understanding of Computer Science fundamentals, including object-oriented design (OOD), data structures, and algorithm complexity.

Preferred Qualifications / Good to Have:

Experience designing and developing scalable, multi-tiered distributed systems and web services.

Familiarity with database architectures (SQL or NoSQL databases) and cloud infrastructure (AWS services).

Strong debugging, system troubleshooting, and performance profiling skills.

Clear written and verbal communication skills with the ability to handle ambiguous engineering challenges.
