About the Team:

The Developer Insights team builds and develops internal tools and platforms serving hundreds of engineers across DoorDash. The team's mission is to continuously elevate the internal developer experience by building internal developer portal features (leveraging Backstage.io), delivering actionable engineering insights, and creating a robust platform ecosystem that promotes software engineering best practices.

Key Responsibilities:

Introduce cutting-edge technologies across the engineering organization, including developer productivity tools powered by LLMs.

Design, build, and maintain new full-stack features for Developer Insights using Backstage.io.

Improve the overall developer experience (DevEx) and internal engineering workflows across the company.

Collaborate cross-functionally across engineering team boundaries to understand developer pain points and build scalable solutions.

Contribute features, enhancements, and bug fixes to upstream open-source projects.

Mentor and guide peer engineers, promoting software engineering standards and architectural best practices.

Provide technical leadership within the team, assisting in roadmap planning and measuring feature adoption.

Represent team initiatives and technical milestones in engineering OKRs and all-hands presentations.

Context switch dynamically across frontend, backend, and data infrastructure layers based on business and tooling needs.

Eligibility Criteria & Qualifications:

Education: Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or related technical field (or equivalent practical experience).

Experience: At least 3+ years of professional full-stack software development experience with web technologies.

Required Skills & Technical Competencies:

Frontend Proficiency: Strong hands-on experience in web development using JavaScript / TypeScript and modern frontend frameworks (e.g., React).

Backend Development: Proven experience building backend services and scalable APIs using JVM-based languages (Java or Kotlin).

AI Tooling Mastery: Proficiency in utilizing modern AI-assisted coding tools (e.g., Claude Code, Cursor, Codex) across the full SDLC—from design and generation to testing, monitoring, and release.

Platform Mindset: Strong product-driven mindset applied toward designing and maintaining internal platform services.

Architecture & Systems: Deep curiosity and solid working knowledge of distributed system architectures and software design patterns.

Communication & Leadership: Excellent written and verbal communication skills; ability to document architecture, communicate cross-functionally, and lead technical discussions.

Preferred / Good to Have:

Hands-on experience with Spotify’s Backstage.io developer portal framework.

Active contributions to open-source software projects or platform engineering tooling.

Familiarity with microservices architecture, Docker, and Kubernetes deployment workflows.
