Role Summary / Purpose:

As an Entry-Level Software Engineer within IBM ISDL, you will be part of high-impact engineering teams building enterprise infrastructure solutions. You will participate across all phases of the software development lifecycle—including requirements analysis, technical design, core coding, testing, validation, and performance optimization—across systems software, firmware, Linux kernel, AI solutions, or cloud infrastructure stacks.

Key Responsibilities:

Understand and analyze product requirements to determine the optimal technical and architectural approach.

Design, implement, test, and maintain high-quality code across systems, applications, or firmware domains.

Work across software validation, debugging, defect fixing, and performance profiling.

Collaborate with global development, product management, and test automation teams to deliver resilient software.

Develop and maintain automated unit, integration, and continuous delivery (CI/CD) pipelines.

Support IBM Systems enterprise products through rigorous troubleshooting and code enhancement.

Eligible Technology Tracks & Domain Focus Areas:

Candidates may be aligned with one of the specialized tracks based on their technical skills:

Systems & Cloud Software: Operating systems, Kubernetes, Docker containers, OpenStack, REST APIs, microservices, and virtualization management.

Linux Development: Linux Kernel internals, operating systems concepts, data structures, processor architecture, virtualization, and C programming.

HMC / NovaLink Software Development: Core Java, C/C++, JavaScript frameworks (React.js, Angular), HTML5/CSS3, and web application UI development.

AI Software Engineering / Enterprise AI: AI/ML frameworks (scikit-learn, XGBoost, TensorFlow, PyTorch), Python, C++, Jupyter Notebooks, REST APIs, and deep learning compilers.

Firmware & Embedded Systems: Low-level firmware design, C/C++ on Linux distros, Git/Gerrit, Jenkins, and system architecture.

Processor Validation & Verification: Pre/post-silicon validation, test benches, electronic design automation (EDA), algorithms, and verification scripting.

Eligibility Criteria & Qualifications:

Education: Bachelor’s degree (B.E. / B.Tech) or Master’s degree (M.E. / M.Tech / MCA) in Computer Science, Information Technology, Electronics & Communication, or a related discipline.

Experience: 0 to 1 year of experience (Open to Freshers and Entry-Level graduates).

Required Skills & Technical Competencies:

Programming Proficiency: Strong foundational programming skills in at least one language: C, C++, Java, or Python.

Core Computer Science Fundamentals: Thorough understanding of Data Structures, Algorithms, Object-Oriented Programming (OOP), and Operating Systems concepts.

Operating Systems & Shell: Hands-on familiarity with Linux/Unix environments, command-line tools, and basic Shell scripting.

Version Control & Tools: Familiarity with Git, GitHub, and standard software development IDEs.

Analytical & Problem-Solving: Strong logical thinking, problem-solving mindset, and keen debugging ability.

Communication & Teamwork: Good interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills with the ability to work effectively in a global team setup.

Preferred / Good to Have:

Practical projects or internship experience in systems programming, cloud platforms (IBM Cloud, AWS, Azure, GCP), or web technologies (React/Node.js).

Knowledge of computer networking, multithreading, and IPC (Inter-Process Communication).

Academic or hackathon project contributions showcasing full-stack or AI/ML model integration.
