Role Summary / Purpose:

As a Back-End Developer for IBM Z, you will design, develop, unit test, and deliver core enterprise offerings for IBM Z platforms (such as z/OS) utilizing modern agile practices and DevOps tooling. You will work in a collaborative global engineering environment to analyze client requirements, design scalable architectures, write efficient low-level code, and debug and test creative solutions that maintain the world-class quality and resiliency of the mainframe ecosystem.

Key Responsibilities:

Design & Develop Solutions: Design, code, and unit-test software offerings for IBM Z using languages such as HLASM/Assembler, PL/X, or C/C++.

Collaborative Problem-Solving: Work across engineering teams to understand requirements, debug issues, and deliver robust technical solutions to client challenges.

Ensure High Resiliency & Quality: Build solutions that adhere to high standards of enterprise security, throughput, and resiliency, aligning with cloud and AI strategic imperatives.

Mainframe Storage & Database Integration: Work with enterprise mainframe storage architectures and database systems, including IMS and DB2.

Security Management: Implement and maintain z/OS security features, including RACF, SSL, SSO, and Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA).

DevOps & Agile Delivery: Leverage modern DevOps pipelines, version control, and agile sprint practices to deliver high-quality software efficiently.

Eligibility Criteria & Qualifications:

Education: Bachelor’s Degree (B.E. / B.Tech) or Master’s Degree (M.E. / M.Tech / MCA / M.Sc) in Computer Science, Information Technology, Software Engineering, or related quantitative disciplines.

Experience: 0.00 – 1.00 Years (Open to Freshers and Entry-Level software engineers).

Required Skills & Technical Competencies:

Programming Languages: Practical exposure or strong foundational competence in HLASM / Assembler, PL/X, C, or C++.

Mainframe Operating Systems: Foundational knowledge of z/OS, zTPF, zVM, or zVSE, alongside key subsystems such as CICS, IMS, and MVS.

Mainframe Storage & Databases: Exposure to DB2, IMS database technologies, and mainframe storage workflows.

Security Mechanisms: Understanding of z/OS security structures including RACF, Single Sign-On (SSO), SSL, and Multi-Factor Authentication.

DevOps & Engineering Practices: Knowledge of Agile methodologies, automated testing, and CI/CD development tools.

Preferred / Good to Have:

Cloud Integration: Understanding of hybrid cloud concepts, cloud development, and deploying cloud-native workloads integrated with IBM Z.

Artificial Intelligence / Machine Learning: Familiarity with Machine Learning, Natural Language Processing (NLP), and methods to integrate AI capabilities into IBM Z mainframe solutions.

Compliance & Security Best Practices: Knowledge of regulatory compliance standards and security hardening on enterprise mainframes.
