Role Summary / Purpose:

Apple is looking for a passionate Web Accessibility Engineer to join the Accessibility Center of Excellence (CoE) team. In this role, you will apply technical accessibility standards to evaluate web applications, conduct remediation, debug front-end code, and work collaboratively across design, product, and engineering teams to embed inclusive design into digital products from the ground up.

Key Responsibilities:

Perform technical accessibility evaluations across enterprise web applications using established testing methodologies.

Document accessibility issues, defects, and findings clearly with actionable recommendations.

Identify, debug, and contribute accessible code fixes using modern front-end web technologies.

Trace code issues to their root cause using browser developer tools and debugging utilities.

Collaborate with cross-functional teams (Product Managers, UX Designers, Software Engineers) across project lifecycles to ensure accessibility compliance from initial design to release.

Test web interfaces with assistive technologies to evaluate real-world usability for users with disabilities.

Contribute to internal accessibility training materials, testing guidelines, developer tooling, and engineering standards.

Eligibility Criteria & Qualifications:

Education: Bachelor’s degree in an engineering-related field (Computer Science, Information Technology, Electronics, etc.) or equivalent practical professional experience.

Experience: 0 to 2 years of experience in web accessibility and front-end engineering (Freshers and early-career candidates are eligible).

Required Technical Skills & Competencies:

Front-End Technologies: Foundational knowledge and hands-on coding experience with HTML, CSS, and JavaScript.

Accessibility Standards: Familiarity with WCAG 2.x guidelines (Web Content Accessibility Guidelines) and WAI-ARIA (Accessible Rich Internet Applications) technical specifications.

Assistive Technologies: Hands-on experience testing web applications with screen readers and assistive tools such as VoiceOver, NVDA, or JAWS.

Debugging & Analysis: Ability to investigate unfamiliar code, inspect DOM elements, and isolate accessibility blockers using browser developer tools.

Accessible Code Remediation: Practical ability to propose and implement semantic HTML and ARIA-compliant code solutions.

Preferred Qualifications & Soft Skills:

Eagerness to independently learn emerging web technologies and accessibility best practices.

Clear and effective verbal and written communication skills to collaborate with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.

Strong collaborative mindset with genuine interest in building relationships across engineering teams.

Ability to manage and prioritize tasks across multiple workstreams in a fast-paced environment.
