Role Summary:

As an Industrial Designer, you will play a hands-on role in shaping hardware and physical consumer products that capture the spirit of Atari and its licensed brand partners. You will handle concept sketching, 3D modeling, rendering, physical prototyping, and design for manufacturing (DFM), working closely with cross-functional creative, engineering, and marketing teams in a collaborative, fast-paced environment.

Key Responsibilities:

- Product Design & Development: Design consumer hardware and lifestyle products that embody brand identity, meet consumer needs, and satisfy licensing partner guidelines.
- Visualization & Modeling: Develop hand sketches, concept iterations, high-fidelity 2D/3D digital renderings, and surface models.
- Prototyping & DFM: Build physical mock-ups, functional prototypes, and ensure designs meet Design for Manufacturing (DFM) requirements (tooling, draft angles, plastics, and assembly).
- Trend Research: Track consumer electronics, industrial design, pop culture, gaming fandom, and technology trends to drive future product ideation.
- Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work closely with the creative director, engineers, and product managers to maintain design integrity through the manufacturing lifecycle and meet milestone deadlines.
- CMF Specifications: Define and implement Color, Material, and Finish (CMF) specifications for manufacturing partners.

Eligibility Criteria & Qualifications:

- Education: Bachelor’s degree (BS/BA) in Industrial Design, Toy Design, Product Design, or a related discipline.
- Experience:
- 5–7 years of experience as an Industrial / Product Designer (preferably in entertainment, licensing, consumer electronics, or pop culture).
- 1–3 years of direct consumer product development experience.
- Portfolio Requirement: A portfolio demonstrating end-to-end industrial design skills (sketching, CAD modeling, photorealistic rendering, prototyping, and final production-ready designs).
- Location Requirement: Must currently reside and be legally authorized to work in the United States.

Required Skills & Software Expertise:

- CAD & Rendering Tools: High proficiency with 3D modeling and visualization software including Rhino 3D, SolidWorks, KeyShot, AutoCAD, Cinema 4D, or Blender (Maya is a plus).
- 2D Design Software: Advanced proficiency in Adobe Creative Cloud (Photoshop, Illustrator) and digital sketching tools (Sketchbook).
- Manufacturing & Materials Knowledge: Solid understanding of plastics, injection molding processes, sheet metal, tooling constraints, and rapid prototyping technologies (3D printing, CNC, soft mockups).
- Industry Acumen: Passion for consumer electronics, video games, retro tech, and modern pop-culture trends.
- Communication & Execution: Strong presentation skills, high attention to detail, and ability to manage multiple design deliverables simultaneously.
