Role Summary / Purpose:

As a Payroll Administrator within Stantec's Financial Services US Payroll team, you will independently process multi-state payroll from start to finish. This role focuses on delivering timely, compliant, and accurate payroll services to employees across North America while collaborating with HR and operational teams to streamline payroll workflows.

Key Responsibilities:

Process multi-state, end-to-end payroll transactions including employee direct deposits, tax elections, deductions, and payroll profile changes with strict accuracy.

Audit bi-weekly payroll reports and timekeeping data entries to identify and resolve discrepancies prior to payroll finalization.

Ensure strict adherence to federal, state, and local payroll laws, wage hour standards, and Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA) regulations.

Assist with prevailing wage, certified payroll compliance, and reporting requirements as necessary.

Support continuous payroll process improvements, contributing to procedural enhancements and operational efficiency.

Handle employee inquiries regarding pay, taxes, deductions, and timecards with high discretion and confidentiality.

Perform additional payroll reconciliation and administrative duties as assigned.

Eligibility & Qualifications:

Education: High school diploma, Associate degree, or Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or related field.

Experience: Proven experience in end-to-end multi-state US payroll processing using automated payroll and enterprise timekeeping platforms.

Location Requirement: Remote role; candidate must legally reside in the state of Arizona (Phoenix or Chandler metro areas).

Required Skills & Competencies:

Solid practical understanding of multi-state payroll compliance and tax regulations.

Working knowledge of Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA) rules and payroll wage laws.

Intermediate to advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, especially Microsoft Excel (VLOOKUP, pivot tables, data reconciliations).

Strong numerical, analytical, and problem-solving skills with meticulous attention to detail.

Ability to handle confidential employee and financial data with high integrity and discretion.

Proven capability to manage competing payroll cutoffs and deadlines in a fast-paced environment.

Preferred / Good to Have:

Hands-on experience with Oracle HRMS, Oracle Cloud HCM, Oracle Time & Labor (OTL), or comparable enterprise ERP payroll systems.

Experience with Certified Payroll and Prevailing Wage requirements.

Professional payroll credentials such as Fundamental Payroll Certification (FPC) or Certified Payroll Professional (CPP).
